Give your child the education and enrichment they need to be prepared for the 2020-2021 school year.

Barstow Global Online’s Summer Immersion program picks up where learning for many students stopped during COVID-19 campus closures. Our three-week online sessions combine live instruction from experienced faculty with meaningful and challenging learning that will fill in end-of-year gaps — and still give students time to enjoy their summer.

Courses For All Ages

Early childhood (ages 3 and 4), lower school (kindergarten-grade 5), middle school (grades 6-8) and upper school (grades 9-11).
Core Content & Add-on Classes

Challenging curriculum in math, science, history and language arts, plus opportunities for STEAM (science, technology, engineering, the arts and math) education.
Convenience & Flexibility

Students receive 4 hours of live instruction per week, plus additional self-paced work, Monday–Thursday.

Four hours of live contact time with experienced teachers per week.
Small Class Sizes

Maximum class enrollment of 20 students.
Affordable Price

One session includes 12 hours of teacher interaction at a cost that is less than most private tutors.

Summer Immersion for preschool–grade 3 is $300 per session. Each class for grades 4–11 is $300. Students can enroll in multiple classes and sessions.

Scholarships

Our goal is to ensure access to Summer Immersion for all students throughout Kansas City. Scholarships are available to students whose families are experiencing financial difficulties caused by COVID-19. They will be given to families that experienced a job loss, own small businesses adversely impacted by COVID-19, or qualify for free or reduced lunch at their regular school.

Full scholarships are available, but limited and will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis. To be considered for a scholarship, check the appropriate box on the registration form.

Summer Immersion FAQ

List of 10 frequently asked questions.

Do students receive course credit at their regular schools for completing a Summer Immersion session?

For students in grades 9-11, we offer a .25 credit for Summer Immersion courses successfully completed. It will be the responsibility of the student to determine if the credit will be accepted in lieu of required coursework at the student’s school. If requested, BGO will issue a transcript for the .25 credit. In all grades, students will receive a digital certificate of completion.
I am unsure of my child's math level. Will BGO be able to help determine the right course?

All math students will be given a general pre-test at the beginning of the session to determine the appropriate grade level placement.
Do teachers give assessments or grades to Summer Immersion students?

Assessments and assignments are graded by the teacher in kindergarten-grade 11. Developmental notes are provided in early childhood. In all grade levels, teachers strive to be diligent and caring in their assessment, mindful to build the confidence of the learner.
Students may select to audit a Summer Immersion course. Auditing students will not earn grades and are not required to complete assignments or assessments. No credit will be earned by students auditing courses.
How much does a Summer Immersion session cost?

A Summer Immersion session for students in early childhood classes and kindergarten-grade 3 is $300. For students in grades 4-11, each course is $300.
Does each session cover the same material?
Yes. In order to accommodate as many students and as many schedules as possible, we are offering three Summer Immersion sessions:
- June 1–18
- July 6–23
- July 27–August 13
Your student may enroll in more than one session, but the coursework will be the same.
Are refunds available?

You may email us to request a refund. Refunds are prorated based on the date of request, minus the $25 enrollment fee and credit card processing fees.
What is the registration deadline for Summer Immersion classes?
Registration closes the Thursday prior to the class start date.

What time will summer immersion classes meet?

Each family will receive a survey prior to the session start date to determine student availability. Students will be placed in the session that matches their availability.
Will students be required to complete work outside of the live lessons?

There will be 12 hours of live instructional time per class. In addition, approximately 12 hours of content will be available through the class website for student to complete at their own pace. This total of 24 hours is meant to cover approximately one quarter of a school year.
What are the technology requirements of the Summer Immersion classes?
Student will need the following:
- Computer or tablet access
- A free Schoology account — This is set up by the family prior to the start of class.
- A free Zoom account This is set up by the family prior to the start of class.
- If individual classes have a specific tool they will use, your teacher will email that information prior to the start of class.
